Product Description

Description

Mat/grade No.1.2343 ESR Steel Plate,bar,tube

Features
UTOPMO1, originates from SUPER technology and is a type of hot work tool steel with high quality. Its main features includes high purity, homogeneous annealing structure, excellent impact property.
UTOPMO1is applied for making hot extrusion die, hot forging die and large-sized plastic mould which has high demand on toughness, and also need polishing or dermatoglyph treatment.
UTOPMO1 is strictly inspected as per standard NADCA#207-2011, and other properties also can be tested as customers' requirement.

Description
H11 is one of the Hot Work, Chromium type tool steels. It is relatively low in carbon content and has good toughness and deep hardens by air quench from heat treatment. Good combination of toughness, hardness and wear resistance in hot. Resistance to softening and to cracking.

Applications
H11 is often used for highly stressed structural parts such as aircraft landing gear. It resists softening at temperatures up to 537oC while retaining good ductility and toughness even at strength levels on the order of 275 ksi. Tools for hot forging of light metal. Pressure die casting tools. Dies, mandrels, punchers, knives, moulds. This grade can be water cooled. For most highest requirements we recommended UTOPMO1 EFS.

Soft Annealing
Heat to 800-840oC, cool slowly in furnace. This will produce a maximum Brinell hardness of 229.

Stress Relieving
Stress relieving to remove machining stresses should be carried out by heating to 650oC, holding for one hour at heat, followed by air cooling. This operation is performed to reduce distortion during heat treatment.

Hardening
Harden from a temperature of 1000-1040oC followed by air, oil quenching or warm bath quenching 500-550oC. Hardness after quenching is 50-56 HRC.

Tempering
Tempering temperature: See the data bellow.

Forging
Hot forming temperature: 1100-900oC.

Cold Working
Cold working may readily be accomplished on H11 by conventional methods.

Machinability
Machinability is reasonably good, approximately 75% that of the W group water hardening low alloy tool steels.

Corrosion Resistance
This is a steel alloy and not corrosion resistant. It will rust unless protected.

Welding
H11 is a readily weldable alloy by conventional methods.

Forms manufactured: Please see the  Dimensional Sales Program.

Delivery Condition
EAF+LF+VD+(ESR), Hot rolled or Forged, Annealed, EFS, Hardness≤235HB, Un-machined or
Machined surface (Peeled, Turned, Milled, Grinded), UT 100% Passed

Characteristics
Hot work tool steel featuring a fine combination of heat checking resistance, hot strength and impact strength; admits water cooling.

Applications
1. Highly stressed hot work tools, mainly for the processing of heavy alloys, such as mandrels, dies
and containers for metal tube and rod extrusion; hot extrusion tools;
2. Tools for the manufacture of hollows, screws, rivets, nuts and bolts.
3. Die casting tools, forming dies, die inserts, hot shear blades.

Heat Treatment
Annealing
750 to 800°C (1382 to 1472°F)
Slow controlled cooling in furnace at a rate of 10 to 20°C/hr (50 to 68°F/hr) down to approx. 600°C (1112°F), further cooling in air. Hardness after annealing: max. 235 HB.

Stress relieving
600 to 650°C (1112 to 1202°F)
Slow cooling in furnace; intended to relieve stresses set up by extensive machining, or in complex shapes. After through heating, hold in neutral atmosphere for 1 - 2 hours.

Hardening
1010 to 1050°C (1850 to 1922°F)
Oil, salt bath (500 - 550°C / 932-1022°F), air
Holding time after temperature equalization: 15 to 30 minutes.
Obtainable hardness: 52 - 56 HRC

Tempering
Slow heating to tempering temperature immediately after hardening / time in furnace 1 hour for each 20 mm of work piece thickness, but at least 2 hours / cooling in air. It is recommended to temper at least twice. A third tempering cycle for the purpose of stress relieving may be advantageous.
1st tempering approx. 30°C (86°F) above maximum secondary hardness.
2nd tempering to desired working hardness. The tempering chart shows average tempered hardness values.
3rd for stress relieving at a temperature 30 - 50°C (86 to 122°F) be low highest tempering temperature.
