High-speed tool steel is also an alloy tool steel, which contains C, Mn, Si, Cr, V, W, Mo, Co. Take W12Cr4V5Co5 as an example, Cr-> 3.75% -5%, V-> 4.5% -5.25%, W-> 11.75% -13%. The ratio of Cr and V should not be low Less than 3%. The content of P and S shall not exceed 0.030%.

The processing method of alloy tool steel is mainly pressure processing steel and cutting tool steel. In addition, the special pre-hardening treatment of the steel makes it have a good hardness when it leaves the factory, which can reduce the heat treatment link in the processing and production of normal molds and improve economic efficiency.
11.2738 mold steel is pre-hardened plastic mold steel

1.2738 Steel adopts advanced die steel refining technology, which is vacuum-melted Cr-Ni-Mo alloy steel. The steel has excellent polishability and photo-etching performance; excellent workability; good wear resistance; large molds have uniform hardness and dense structure; no risk of quenching cracks and heat treatment deformation, no heat treatment, and shorten the mold production cycle; good Surface nitriding performance; surface flame hardening can be carried out to improve the hardness and wear resistance of the mold surface. Before quenching, the mold must be fully softened and annealed. After quenching, it should be tempered in time and slowly heated.

The fine electrical discharge machining at the post-electrical machining stage should be performed with a small current and a high frequency to avoid damage to the mold. After the discharge, the surface of the mold should be ground to remove the "electric spark white layer", and then tempered again at 500 ºC to remove the stress.


When grinding the tempered mold, in order to prevent grinding cracks and surface softening, attention should be paid to: sufficient cooling; appropriate grinding pressure; reasonable processing technology.

The steel pre-hardened steel has good polishing performance, usually using alumina or gypsum polishing. The first is rough polishing, and then polishing with finer and finer abrasives. The polishing direction should be changed every time the abrasive is changed. The final polishing time should not be too long, otherwise it will affect the roughness of the mold surface.

Nitriding can increase the hardness of the mold surface, improve wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Although the steel has been pre-hardened, the hardness can still be increased by heat treatment

time. For certain applications requiring improved retention of hardness, a nitriding treatment is recommended.
