Material description
MONEL 400 is a deformable nickel-copper nickel-based alloy. It has good seawater corrosion resistance and chemical corrosion resistance, and strong chloride stress corrosion cracking resistance. The alloy is one of the few alloys that can be used in fluoride. It has good resistance to oxides stress fission corrosion in hydrofluoric acid and fluorine medium, such as seawater and brine.
MONEL 400 also has excellent corrosion resistance in medium concentration alkaline and salt solutions.
In the colder alkaline environment, the alloy is used in weak acids such as sulphur and hydrogen fluoride.
It has good mechanical properties from below zero to 550 C and is easy to weld.
Characteristic
Monel 400 is a kind of corrosion resistant alloy with the greatest amount, the most extensive use and excellent comprehensive properties. The alloy has excellent corrosion resistance in hydrofluoric acid and fluorine gas medium, as well as in hot concentrated alkali solution. It also resists corrosion of neutral solution, water, sea water, atmosphere, organic compounds, etc. An important characteristic of the alloy is that it does not produce stress corrosion cracks and has good cutting performance.

Process Performance and Requirements
Hot working
The annealing temperature should be controlled between 700 and 900 C. Rapid air cooling is recommended to obtain the best corrosion resistance. Time and temperature will directly affect the final grain size, so annealing parameters must be carefully formulated.
Cold working
Intermediate annealing should be carried out in cold working. High work hardening rate
Deformation of cold forming is more than 5%. It must be removed stress or annealed before it can be used.
welding technology
Argon arc welding, plasma arc welding, gas shielded arc welding or hand arc welding can be used for welding. Pulse arc welding is the first choice. Surface treatment is best after welding.
